Chanting opens the heart and makes love flow within us. —Swami Muktananda

Frequently Asked Questions

Why mantras?

Mantras are mystical invocation formulas. We invoke them for the benefit of ourselves, our loved ones and the world.

Why 40 days?

40 days is consistent in spiritual traditions and among lifestyle enhancement programs alike. We see 40 days as the amount of time it takes to experience the energy of a mantra. That mantra is then in your tool basket to draw on whenever it is needed or desired.

Why 108 times?

108 times has application to the energy centers in the body and Vedic astrology. There are 108 beads on the Mala (prayer beads).

Can I chant more than 108 times?

Absolutely! 108 times for 40 days is the minimum, there is no maximum.

Can I chant longer than 40 days?

Indeed, once we’ve completed the 40-day period, the mantra is in your toolkit; use it in a way that best enlivens and supports you. Sometimes the mantra chants you for as long as it takes.

What’s the best way to count?

Prayer beads are the easiest. However, we teach a convenient way to count on your fingers.

How can I get help to stay accountable?

You can have an accountability partner(s) or we can assign you one if you let us know at the start of a session that you'd like one. A simple way is to just text a check mark to your partner(s) every day when you’ve completed the chant.

How can I get my questions answered and share my experiences?

We have a private Facebook page just for this purpose! Friend Christina Sarver on FB and she will invite you to the group. If not on FB, you can email Christina or Shelly at anytime.

What if I miss a day?

It’s best to do the chant every day. If you miss just get back on your chanting horse the next day, don’t be discouraged!

Can I still participate if I can’t attend the zoom calls?

Most certainly, a Zoom recording is sent shortly after each meeting to all registered participants.

Can I start in the middle of a session?

No. It’s best to wait for the start of the next (approx. quarterly) session so you can properly learn the chants and follow along with the group.

Do I have to chant at the same time every day?

It is optimal to try for approximately the same time every day. It helps build the energy. However, the fact you do it is more important than when, so just do it!

What is the best way to chant? Can I chant while walking? Sweeping? Swimming?

We are committed to making this process as accessible as possible to encourage daily participation. Do what works best for you and keeps you engaged in the process. As Christina says, “There are as many rules about chanting as there are chants!” For our Singing in the Renaissance purposes and participating in a mystical life with the Divine, we are not as exacting about how you develop your practice; Christina’s priority is that the pronunciation is correct and the focus is on the magic of a daily practice.

What if I can’t chant out loud in my environment?

No problem, just chant quietly to yourself and, in a pinch, silently.

Can I chant for loved ones? The environment? Situations?

Yes, and our second Zoom meetup of each session includes a “healing circle” in which we do just that. These will teach you basic skills to chant for what and whomever your heart desires. Chant on!

Can I get help clarifying my intentions?

We'd love to help. Christina is available for hire, offering Insight Sessions and intention setting at anytime.

What if I need a chant designed specifically for my situation?

Christina offers one-on-one private sessions for that!

Can I sign up for the whole year or just one session at a time?

You can sign up for as many sessions as you like at a given time and, if you register for the full year prior to the Winter session (commencing in January) can do so at a discount. Our goal is to encourage chanting as an integral part of your daily life, and as such we're in it for the long run and would be delighted if you'd join us.
