I love the way Shelly and Christina select chants with the seasons in mind. Last summer we embarked on Lakshmi with an invitation to join forces with the great energy of abundance! They asked what in your life is calling forth to flourish and bloom and wow this inquiry was right on time.
I ended up having a manifestation come to fruition right in the middle of the 40-day session.
Not only did I sync up with an art opportunity to do something I'd never done before but on a grander scale than I had ever experienced. I received a very inspired idea that changed the course of my art and the whole project came together so beautifully during my time with Lakshmi. It was powerful and lasting. And, I'm still working on this body of work because it's abundant, overflowing and flourishing.

How it works
What is Singing in the Renaissance?
Singing in the Renaissance is designed to make chanting more accessible, encourage daily practice, and create community around positive change.
Each 40-day Chant Challenge session (three per year) comprises three live Zoom meetings (with Christina and Shelly) to introduce and learn the chants, set intentions for the session, and support your daily practice. Meetings also provide history and background for the chants so they come alive in our imaginations, and are where you can raise questions and share discoveries.
The chants are short mantras and practicing them takes about 5-15 minutes per day. We believe that to effect significant change in our lives daily practice is required, and that in so doing we can begin to forge new pathways. These new paths can offer alternatives — replacing old ruts, habits, and spells that bind us — with fresh energy that nourishes the self and the soul, harmonizing ourselves and the world around us.
All meetings are recorded and registrants for that session receive a link to the recording via email, shortly after the meeting concludes. This allows for reviewing content at your leisure, staying abreast if you miss a meeting, or as an alternative for those who would rather not Zoom or can't attend.
These gatherings provide a circle of support as we witness and hold space for what shows up while applying the chant formulas to our daily lives, and offer us the opportunity to feel knit into life's flow instead of the mind dragging us around. Helping you sustain a daily chant practice in community is our goal.
Why chant?
Chanting can afford us entry into a dialog with the divine, particularly where ordinary words don't suffice. Regular chanting stills and focuses the mind, helping us gain equanimity, dissolve worry, and open the heart. Repeating these beautiful and meaningful mantras, i.e. singing, can help create remedies through sound and invite unseen forces to benefit and heal.
It is said that the secrets found in the ancient Vedic texts fell to the bottom of the ocean to be retrieved so humanity can apply their wisdom and help in turning from the period of darkness into a golden age. These sounds are the energy of the cosmos, offering the ability to connect with the fabric and mythology of life. We sing to the elements, to our planet, our loved ones and ourselves. With these practices we have the ability to enchant ourselves and the world.
